Washington, D.C. and New York View ofCity!

They will never be same again!! After learning about the history of our Nation's capital and some of the monuments, memorials, and important buildings, our 5th and 6th grade CCATS had the chance to take a 5 day whirlwind tour of DC and NYC! We went from sun up to way beyond sun down, but it was worth it! These students were able to see things that will make an impact on their lives in the future! Check out some of our trip!

The first thing we were greeted by was Snow!!

Most of the kids were fascinated at how much
snow was left from the storm the week before!

We are so not used to this much snow!

The whole state of Alabama would shut down for weeks!!

Even the water was still ice!

I'm not sure if the kids liked the statue of FDR or his dog, Fala, more!

Mrs. Purdy is pretty fond of Fala!

Diving Into Learning!!

The 4th grade CCATS have been studying marine biology, oceanography, and water ecology. As a special treat, the Chambers County Dive Team came to Huguley and gave a presentation to all of the 4th grade CCATS! They explained the work they did and the kids were able to check out the equipment and trailer they use, up close and personal! Then, Major Stewart presented a PowerPoint to the students showing divers, fish, and lots of other cool stuff!

The CCATS are getting a lesson on diving!

They are showing all the equipment needed for a diver!

The CCATS were really intrigued by the equipment!

Thank you, Chambers County Dive Team!!

Major Stewart explaining some of what they do!

This is how it looks under the water!

The CCATS thought it would be fun to dive!

Major Stewart does a super job presenting for our CCATS!!

Little Einsteins!!

3rd grade learned about the 5 traits of inventors and problem solvers! To help them remember, we made a person foldable that included the 5 traits and what they mean. Then we added our own heads, complete with Einsteins hair, to show that we are problem solvers!!

Brayden, Landon, Micah, Lily, Edward, Lane, Piper,
Jolee, Macy, and Breanna are loving their new looks!

A Fishy Puzzle!!

After studying the animal classification system and the anatomy of a fish, the 4th grade CCATS had a fishy problem to solve! They were given clues about a fish, some molding clay, and some cut fins. Using the clues, they had to put the fish together so that it was anatomically correct!

Treanna and Ashlyn are looking good!

Caden and Kayden think they have a little more work to do!

Brody isn't so sure about this, but Libby thinks they are getting there!

See...it's all good!

Jayden and Logan think they did a good job on their fish!

Eric and Noah worked hard on their fish!

They are almost there!

Ashlyn and Treanna know it takes teamwork!

Logan and Jayden are working hard!
Kayden and Caden aren't sure they are up to this challenge!

WAY BEHIND!!!

Wow!! I have gotten really far behind on the blog posts! I have been spending so much time teaching your super kids and working on the class coming up for next year that I haven't had time to get things on the blog! I will be working diligently on getting this caught up this week!
